An Artwork Release Form is a legal document that grants permission to use a specific artwork or image for a specific use, purpose, and/or time. It may also state how the artwork can’t be used.
If you would like to use an image of one of my artworks or the artwork itself, please contact me directly. If approved, I will prepare an Artwork Release Form stating the agreed to parameters such as the purpose, the length of time, or insurance against damage, if applicable. I will provide a digital image for use during the agreed time of use.
I retain all copyrights and reproduction rights even if you purchased the artwork. The artwork may not be reproduced by any process or medium without my express written permission, thus the need for the Artwork Release Form.
You will find that I am agreeable to work with and am truly honored that you desire to use my artwork at your event or promotion.

My artwork is protected by copyright law. Written on the back of each canvas proper is the name of the artwork, my name, and the copyright symbol © and year. I also document my artistic process with photos, a photo of my palette, and a hand written project sheet containing notes about my artistic process. In 2022, I began identifying artwork with an Inventory Number. As of 2026, I am including that inventory number on the back of the canvas/substrate.
Generally speaking, the back of the canvas is covered with foam core board or mat board to keep out insects (spiders) or prevent holes from being poked through the back of the painting. A wire hanger is attached. There is also a sticker placed on the backing with my contact information and the title of the artwork written by hand.
Often, I will include a story about the artwork printed on a 4x6” sheet and affixed to the surface of the backing.
If possible, the CoA is included in an envelope which is affixed to the backing. If you have purchased an artwork without a Certificate of Authenticity, please feel free to contact me.
